Kenner advertisement from 1972 featuring the Easy-Bake Oven. The ad made the assumption that a doll was every little girl’s favorite toy in 1972. Instead of battling it out for that top spot, the ad encouraged moms to pair the Easy-Bake Oven with their daughter’s favorite doll that Christmas.

New variant comic book cover looks good enough to go on your toy shelf! Marvel comics revealed this cover as one of many that will be used for Star Wars #1 hitting shelves 1-14-2015.
Artist John Tyler Christopher pays homage to the vintage Kenner Star Wars line by depicting a carded Luke Skywalker figure on the cover. Every detail from the cardback to the bubble looks incredible down to the vintage styled lightsaber.

I never get tired of browsing The Star Wars Collector’s Archive! Check out this unproduced concept vehicle for a Millennium Falcon Mini-Rig. The Mini-Rigs were small scale Star Wars vehicles Kenner developed in order to offer a low cost alternative to the larger, more expensive vehicles. If you’re like me, and you never get tired of seeing what might have been, head on over and take a look at some of the photos!

One of the coolest features of the site is The ‘Chive Vintage Pod. It’s a podcast focused on all of the current happenings in the vintage Star Wars collecting community. It is great to listen to on your way to work or while sorting through your new acquisitions! So head on over there and give it a listen!
It’s Kenner, It’s Fun!!
Ron Salvatore has a great blog post up over at the Star Wars Collectors Archive about Kenner’s early days with the Star Wars toy license. He takes a fascinating look at the tight deadline Kenner was working under once the toy company sealed the licensing deal, and the second-guessing George Lucas and the studio were doing regarding the deal once they realized they had a mega-hit on their hands.
